About Tim Owen Member for NewcastleTim Owen AM MP is the first Liberal MP to represent the seat of Newcastle in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in almost a century. Being elected the State Member for Newcastle is a new journey in Tim's long career of public service. Tim served in the Royal Australian Air Force for 32 years, retiring in 2009. He then worked as a chief executive in commercial enterprise, before embarking on a life in politics. Tim has commanded at every level within the Royal Australian Air Force, both on operational duty in theatres of war and in a domestic sense. Tim's military career has taken him all over the world, and he has lived in places throughout Australia, the Asia-Pacific, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Europe. Tim and his wife Charlotte have three sons: Daniel, a carpenter; Andreas, an apprentice electrician and budding photographer and; Nikolai, an aspiring jewellery designer. Having called Newcastle home for over 19 years in total, Tim has a vested interest in serving his community with passion and conviction. Tim takes great joy in meeting with various members of the community and discussing how by working together, we can all advance the city of Newcastle.
